Having Mars in the 11th House, the scope of your activity can range from involvement in clubs and other social groups to broad involvement in civic affairs, social causes or even world affairs. Generally, you may feel that you need to make a difference in the world, or your community, and, therefore, you must take action that extends beyond yourself and your own concerns.

With Mars in the 11th House, your actions will also tend to be future-oriented, or designed to have an impact that outlasts yourself. Because of your broad involvement, you may be very busy with activities that are outside the scope of domicile and work. Although you may have many interests, you will generally be focused and committed once you become engaged in taking action. Because of your orientation toward the future, you may be very good at planning your actions. Having Mars in the 11th House, you are also likely to act more often in group situations than alone.  Sometimes, however, you may be reluctant to take action unless you have the approval of the group. The group, or whatever organization or cause provides you with outward extension, may become a vehicle for propelling and motivating your active energy. In this way, you become more energized and able to accomplish things.

As an individual with Mars in the 11th House, if you are inwardly insecure, you will find it difficult to maintain your self-esteem without the approval of others. You have very little authentic individual identity and you, therefore, take your identity from your group involvement and from how others see you. You take action within the group that is designed to enhance your own status and draw the attention of the group towards yourself. With Mars in the 11th House, you may act on behalf of the group, generally as its leader or jockeying for a leadership position, but you are really acting on your own behalf. All of your protestations of good will and concern for others are just that. You would really not do anything to benefit anyone unless it did you some good. Your actions never go against the group’s will, for you could not stand to fall out of favor with the group.

More specifically, you may desire the recognition and approval of some group or some organization or institution that is greater than yourself. You usually want to feel part of something that is more than yourself. To the extent that you transcend yourself, your desire will be for the welfare of the group to which you belong. The farther you transcend yourself, the wider this group becomes, until it can become all of Creation.
