Mars in Scorpio in the Ninth House

This often manifests in your actions having an intensity that is the result of focused emotional energy. Others may, therefore, see you as powerful or aggressive. Although Scorpio was formerly considered to be ruled by Mars, the Mars in Scorpio placement has its ambiguities. This is symbolized by the natural quincunx between Scorpio and Mars-ruled Aries. Scorpio is the Fixed Water sign. The active functions associated with Mars symbolically tap into the source of power inherent in Scorpio’s watery depths. If you attain power, you mistake the power that you feel as being personal and yours, rather than recognizing the truth that all power is from the One Source and is only lent to us for our use. Because you have a need to prove your superiority to yourself, you use this power to dominate others. Pure lust for power is a symptom of your inner feeling of powerlessness.  With Mars in Scorpio, you may also fear being controlled and so, in defense, seek to act to control others. On the other hand, if you are extremely insecure, you may shrink from asserting power either out of fear of the consequences should you misuse that power or out of fear that your use of power may prompt someone with greater power to exercise it against you.

The outward focus and expansiveness of this house allows the action principle symbolized by Mars to freely assert itself.  This placement gives your desires and actions a direction and purpose – to experience and understand the world around you.
